Step 1:
The next time you log into one of the Windows 7 desktops you will see an icon on the desktop called Backup Files.
Double clicking on this shortcut launches a script will run that will copy the following items to a folder named Backup.w7 located on your U: drive:
- Chrome Bookmarks
- Internet Explorer Favorites
- Desktop items
- Documents Folder Contents
- Downloads Folder Contents
- Photos Folder Contents
Step 2:
Once your data is backed up, you can run the Restore Files shortcut on the desktop on the new VDI Windows 10 desktop.
This will restore your Chrome Bookmarks and Internet Explorer Favorites. Any data in the Desktop, Documents, Downloads or Photos folders will still be accessible in the U:\Backup.w7 folder.
Per company policy, these files should exist on one of the network drives or inside of OneDrive. You can create shortcuts to these items, but files should not be saved to the virtual desktop.
